It seems that it would be easier for matterless consciousness to exist than the physical of manifest reality, as consciousness does not need to be bound with the structural confines of the physical. While our experience as mortal, physical creatures demonstrates how a physical container can assist the growth of the consciousness within, looking at consciousness itself shows it to be boundless and formless.

There are some specific ideas we can infer from the answer to the question of a person's professed religious faith, but as the words of any religion are so heavily symbolic, the actual beliefs of any person of any religion can be quite variable.
Gender and the Master Architect

The duality of the Master Architect is much more logical than a male/female balance between the MA and Void, as the Void being so defined would make it not Void; ∴ Void is not a quantifiable half of any balance, other than the rather ultimately unquantifiable opposite and base of that which is, the Dark of Light and Dark. And so, while it is possible to have engendered the MA, the balance of this/our Manifest Reality suggests that the MA is a pairing, that pairing drawing from itself and/or Pure Void to manifest reality.
